It’s time to go back to 1983, when Lakeside was alive and thriving as it is today, and right outside the gates, a small food pantry was beginning to take shape, known as the Danbury Food Pantry.
Thirty-two years later, the Danbury Food Pantry now serves nearly 50 families in the local community.
The leader of the pantry, Jan Hirt, shared, “The food pantry is open every third Saturday of each month. We’re located at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Church Road.”
During the summer, food pantries seem to struggle the most and need all the help they can get. To assist the pantry, Lakeside guests and residents are encouraged to donate non-perishable and toiletry items that are left over after their summer vacation.
