A new year has officially arrived, and with it, new excitement for the coming summer. This year, which happens to be the 90th anniversary of Hoover Auditorium, is poised to be another outstanding season. With some of Lakeside’s favorite performers returning and brand new faces that are sure to deliver. We hope you’re just as excited as we are.
To entertain and thrill Lakesiders who spend Memorial Day weekend with us, Hotel California will visit Hoover Auditorium with their rendition of the legendary sound of the Eagles. This Original Eagles Tribute Band will perform the band’s greatest hits on Sunday, May 27.
On Saturday, June 16, Lakeside welcomes with the improv comedy of Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood with their show “Scared Scriptless.” These famous “Whose Line is it Anyway?” comedians will open Lakeside’s 145th anniversary season with a night of interactive antics and on-the-fly laughs.
Debuting on Wednesday, June 20 with ventriloquist David Crone is our new Family Entertainment Series. In an effort to offer convenient and kid-friendly shows in Hoover Auditorium, Lakeside is dedicating select Wednesday evenings to family-friendly performances that will start at 7:30 p.m. Other highlights of this series include Doktor Kaboom! “Wheel of Science” on July 11 and Chicago Dance Crash “Hip-Hop Game Show,” an interactive dance experience for all ages, on July 18. With the experience of sharing the stage with artists such as Kanye West, Aerosmith and Tom Petty, Black Violin combines classical violin training with hip-hop influences to create a distinctive and multi-genre sound that is often described as “classical boom.” Hear their unconstrained mix of jazz, R&B, roots, rap and pop when this duo performs in Hoover on Friday, June 29.
Best remembered for their 1970s hit “Vehicle,” The Ides of March is now in their 54th year together as a band, still with all four original members. Featuring lead singer and songwriter Jim Peterik, who wrote Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” the band will perform on Saturday, July 7.
After 40 years in business and armed with some of the greatest songs ever written, The Miracles are still attracting enthusiastic audiences around the world. With hits like “Shop Around,” “I Second that Emotion,” “The Tears of a Clown,” “Love Machine” and “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me,” The Miracles were able to grow the popularity of the Motown sound. They will perform an unforgettable concert on Saturday, July 14.
Multiple Dove and Grammy-Award winning artist, best known for her singles “Blessings” and “I Think of You,” Laura Story will bring her inspiring message of trusting in God on Friday, July 20. By writing compelling, emotionally rich songs and sharing her vulnerabilities with the world, Story has inspired millions.
Tim Hawkins, an in-demand family-friendly comic known for his witty song parodies and painfully honest reflections on parenthood in the Midwest, will share his life and his talents with Lakesiders on Saturday, July 21. His observations of life’s daily ridiculousness and hilarity will entertain the entire family.
After making their Hoover debut in 2017 and wowing the crowd with the range of their voices and humor, Home Free will return on Saturday, July 28. The up-and-coming country a cappella stars, who have made their name by performing Nashville standards and country-dipped pop hits, will perform at Lakeside as part of their TIMELESS world tour.
Fans of the cherished Lakeside Symphony Orchestra (LSO) are in for a special season this summer. As Lakeside plans the next steps after the retirement of long-time conductor Robert Cronquist, the LSO will deliver seven concerts under the direction of guest conductors, each of whom have their own impressive set of experience. The month-long residency will take place from Wednesday, July 25-Tuesday, Aug. 14.
Sandi Patty was first introduced to the music scene with a performance of the “Star Spangled Banner” during the 1986 rededication of the Statue of Liberty in New York City. As one of the most awarded female vocalists in Christian music history, Sandi Patty will return to Hoover Auditorium on Friday, Aug. 3.
Steve Augeri, former lead singer of the iconic band Journey, will perform on Saturday, Aug. 11. Drawing on a range of diverse musical influences to deliver a unique take on the genre of melodic rock, Augeri is an American rock singer best known as the lead vocalist of the band from 1998-2006.
A favorite here at Lakeside and with ‘Noonatics’ around the world, Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone will perform some of their popular hits from the 1960s on Saturday, Aug. 18, including “I’m into Something Good,” “Mrs. Brown You’ve got a Lovely Daughter,” “There’s a Kind of Hush” and “I’m Henry VIII, I Am.”
Relive the era of early rock & roll with Slim Jim Phantom from the hit 1980s band the Stray Cats. He will bring his legendary drumming skills to Hoover on Saturday, Aug. 25. More than 30 years and millions of record sales later, Slim Jim Phantom continues to excite audiences worldwide. With a sound, style and image that remain as fresh as ever, he has cemented his place among rock royalty.
On Saturday, Sept. 1, Jay White “America’s Diamond” will close the summer with his tribute performance to Neil Diamond.
Purchasing a Daily, Saturday or Season Chautauqua Pass includes admission into Lakeside Chautauqua and all shows in Hoover Auditorium, plus additional benefits. A separate ‘ticket’ is not necessary to attend a Hoover show. As always, children age 12 and under and guests over age 90 are always free. Parking is an additional charge. Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes may be purchased online at tickets.lakesideohio.com or upon entering the gates of Lakeside. Please allow two weeks for online processing. There are no reserved seats for Hoover shows; seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. Present your Chautauqua Pass upon entering Hoover Auditorium.
