Charles Allen
Lakeside President/CEO
The New Community Authority (NCA) was introduced to Lakeside as a source of potential funding for capital improvements. Much effort has been given to exploring the plusses and minuses for our community.
I’d like to acknowledge and thank Don Leach, a past Board member, our Benesch and Vorys teams, the NCA Task Force, Lakeside staff members, the Lakeside Property Owners Association and the Lakeside Association Board of Directors for their exhaustive efforts.
After giving careful consideration to their research, the information at hand, the opinions gathered through Coffee Chats, three community gatherings, professional recommendations and reading through the LPOA Survey results, it is my recommendation that in the best interest of Lakeside, we do not proceed.
However, I’d like to draw attention to the good that has come from all the time we’ve put into gatherings, conducting surveys, reading comments and formal and informal meetings. To address our capital improvement needs and to answer our deferred structural and property maintenance, we are committed to doing the following:
Create a new campaign to increase the number of homeowners donating to Lakeside.
- Every Lakesider, Every Front Porch
Give additional attention to exploring new funding sources, such as:
- Tax Credits and incentives
- Local, state and federal Grants
Establish a new task force charged to quantify
- Ongoing maintenance requirements
- Future updates, code requirements, etc.
- Renovations
The new task force will also build a business case for each structure.
It is with confidence that we can look at how we’ve proceeded as a Board and community so we can move forward, unified for the good of Lakeside.
The Board approved this recommendation at its Aug. 2 meeting.
