How to Plan Your Lakeside Chautauqua Vacation

We’re excited to welcome you back to Lakeside Chautauqua and the Lake Erie shore this summer. Whether you’re looking to book your first trip or you’ve already started the planning process, here are some tips to help you have a successful vacation experience.

How to Plan Your Vacation

Step 1: Log onto www.lakesideohio.com/calendar, or pick up a Calendar of Events brochure, for a complete list of events taking place at Lakeside this summer. Join our mailing list by emailing your name and home address to guestinfo@lakesideohio.com.

Step 2: Select when you want to visit. Each week, the summer season is filled with spiritual services, educational lectures, cultural experiences and recreational activities. Whether you’re planning a summer-long visit or one week at a time, anytime at Lakeside is filled with family fun.

Step 3: Choose where you want to stay. Lakeside offers a variety of accommodations to guests. We invite you to rent a cottage for the week, spend the night in Hotel Lakeside or the Fountain Inn, camp out in your RV, reserve one of our rustic cabins or relax at one of the many bed & breakfasts around Lakeside. We encourage everyone to book your stay early, as reservations become available in February and book fast.

Step 4: Look into purchasing Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes. Lakeside Chautauqua is a gated community. There are several different Chautauqua Passes to choose from, depending on how long your family is visiting Lakeside.

A Chautauqua Pass entitles our guests and residents to participate in most programs taking place inside the gates, including spiritual services, educational lectures, Hoover Auditorium concerts, cultural arts events and specific recreational activities. Please note an Auto Pass is required to park on the Lakeside grounds. Free, limited parking is available outside the gates.

Learn more about the benefits of your Chautauqua Pass, and while you’re there, purchase your passes online ahead of time. (Please allow 1 to 2 weeks for processing.) But don’t worry, Chautauqua Passes are also available upon arrival at the Lakeside gates.

Daily Chautauqua Pass valid from the time of purchase until 7 p.m. the following day
Partial Chautauqua Pass valid for three hours, but not for Hoover Auditorium shows
Season Chautauqua Pass valid for Memorial Day weekend (May 23-26, 2014) and during the summer season (June 21-Sept. 1, 2014)
Complimentary Pass available for church services, Chaplain’s Hour, movies, shopping, dining and walking around Lakeside
Daily Auto Pass valid for parking your vehicle on the grounds

Step 5: Create and itinerary for your trip. Be sure to pick up a copy of our Calendar of Events brochure, scroll through our website’s detailed calendar or browse the pages of the Lakesider newspaper to keep up-to-date on everything happening at Lakeside during your stay. Don’t forget to bring cash for shopping and dining, as many places around Lakeside are cash only.

Step 6: Now it’s time to pack for your trip. Stay tuned for an upcoming post on what essentials to pack for your next family vacation to Lakeside.
