Jim Albrecht Inducted into Ohio Shuffleboard Hall of Fame

Long-time Lakesider Jim Albrecht was recently inducted into the Ohio Shuffleboard Hall of Fame for his distinguished service to the game.

Albrecht has been the Lakeside Shuffleboard Club Disc Master for the past 15 years and has been at the helm of the care and maintenance of all 56 sets of the Lakeside Dimco tournament discs.

He carefully waxes discs before, during and after tournaments and mixers. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of the methods of refining and reshaping shuffleboard discs, and he tests all discs for speed.

Tournament shufflers who visit Lakeside know Albrecht as the “Disc Guru,” as he kindly reminds them before every tournament to please pick up the vintage tournament discs out of the gutter, so the discs are not scratched.

Albrecht is well-known among other shuffleboard court managers who are seeking his advice to try to improve their disc management. Beginning adult shufflers at Lakeside have met Albrecht as he helps instruct new players on the strategies of the game.

Albrecht and his wife, Polly (past President of the Lakeside Shuffleboard Club), recently sold their year-round home on Central Avenue in Lakeside and now live in Avon, Ohio.

He was nominated for the Distinguished Service Award by Bill Hoyer, Past President of the Ohio State Shuffleboard Association. Congratulations to Jim on this milestone achievement!
