Erie Food Market has a New Owner & Operator

Lakeside celebrates and thanks Ray Wise and his family for the hospitality and for serving the Marblehead Peninsula as he retires from Erie Food Market.

“For over 30 years, we’ve had the privilege of serving this wonderful community and being part of its daily life,” said Wise. “We couldn’t be more pleased to pass the torch to Cypress Row, who understands the special place Erie Food Market holds in so many hearts. We’re confident they’ll honor our traditions while bringing fresh ideas that will ensure the market thrives for generations to come.”

Erie Food Market has a new owner and operator. Cypress Row Hospitality Group LLC (Cypress Row) is proud to announce the acquisition of the business. This strategic acquisition represents a commitment to preserving and building upon one of Danbury Township’s longest-operating businesses.

“We’re honored to become stewards of such a beloved local institution,” said James Beardsley, CEO of Cypress Row Hospitality Group LLC. “Erie Food Market has been a vital part of this community for generations, and we’re committed to honoring its rich heritage while bringing fresh energy to its next chapter.”

Beardsley and his mother, Doris, live on Catawba Island and attend the Lakeside programs. They are strong supporters of the Community Worship Service music ministry. We give thanks for their special support and congratulate Beardsley on this new adventure.

The market, which has operated under various names including Erie Beach Market, Erie Beach
Grocery, and Erie Grocery throughout its history, has remained an essential service provider through
significant local developments, including the era of interurban railways and the opening of the North Shore
Boulevard to motor traffic in 1952.

Cypress Row plans to maintain the market’s traditional strengths while introducing thoughtful
enhancements to the customer experience. The company emphasizes that its focus will be on building
upon the legacy.

“What makes Erie Food Market special is its deep connection to the community,” added Beardsley. “As
we look to the future, we’re dedicated to preserving that connection while ensuring the market
continues to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

The current staff will remain in place, and continue to provide the excellent service regular customers
have come to expect. Additional details about future plans and improvements will be announced in the
coming months via our website at eriefoodmarket.com and all social media channels.
