This summer, Lakeside teens hosted a Benefit Comedy Show with the improv group Scriptless in Seattle. Donations from the event were used to construct a Blessing Box.
A Blessing Box is similar to a Little Lending Library, but instead of books, it’s filled with non-perishable food items for people who could use a little extra food when needed. People can add food and take food anonymously.
The Blessing Box was recently installed at the Port Clinton United Methodist Church on Adams Street. Pictured is Lakesider Eugene Jacob, who graciously installed the box.
Over the summer, Lakesiders donated 1,100 pounds of food to help our neighbors on the Marblehead Peninsula who struggle with food insecurity.
Lakeside teens, along with The Kite Shop, made a commitment to support this cause. Because of their passion to help others, they made it happen.
The Lakeside community can continue to show compassion by supporting the Blessing Box in Port Clinton with an anonymous gift of non-perishable items. Just stop by and add your gift of food.
Thank you, Lakeside. You continue to spread the spirit that makes our community such a unique and special place.
