What program at the Pavilion has transformed your life?

The Pavilion is a visual focal point and highlight of the Lakeside Chautauqua experience. As one of the most photographed structures in the community and the hub for waterfront activities, it’s a building that Lakesiders easily recognize. Programs that take place here encompass all four Chautauqua pillars, bringing an array of activities.

Religion

The Religion pillar embraces the lakefront scenery as a meditative backdrop for reverence and reflection. The Pavilion offers Sunday morning Dockside Worship and evening Sunset Praise Services, Tuesday and Thursday evening Vespers, and weekly Men’s Bible Study meetings. It is also the home of the beloved carillon bells that can be heard across the lakefront.

Education

The Education pillar gathers students of all generations at the Pavilion to expand their minds through gardening lectures and intergenerational science programs, such as Lake Erie Science and others.

Cultural Arts

The Cultural Arts pillar stages special events on and around the Pavilion, including live entertainment, Saturday afternoon concerts, dancing, plein air painting, festivals and holiday entertainment. At Pavilion Circle, guests enjoy the Collector Car Show, Blues & BBQ Festival, Lakeside Wooden Boat Show & Plein Air Art Festival and Military Appreciation Day activities, as well as Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day festivities.

Recreation

The Recreation pillar fills its waterfront schedule with sailing lessons and races, while accommodating those who wish for unguided adventures with rentals of stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and sailboats. The Pavilion decks provide the perfect place for shaded observation of friends and family enjoying the beach, swimming, children’s pool, splash pad and participating in the Youth Triathlon and Jingle Jump. You can also participate in various wellness classes, as well as dance and music classes through the Rhein Center.

Other Programming

Within the archway access to the dock, the Waterfront/Information Center is the first stop for Wooden Boat Ride and Sunset Cruise registrations, waterfront boat and equipment rentals, fishing licenses and bait, and lakefront shopping at North Coast Kite Co.

Underneath the West Deck along the beach, you’ll find the Lakeside Sailing Center, offering individual lessons, group classes and competitive sailing events. This is the home of the Kids Setting Sail and Women on Water (W.O.W.) programs.

Bluebird Café, a restaurant including whole foods for the whole family, and The Underground for teens are located in annex of the Lakeside Pavilion. The teen center is a special place where you will find Lakeside youth playing games, enjoying lasting friendships and exploring a unique Chautauqua programming that’s exclusive and appealing to teens.

Reflect & Renew

Scheduled activities aside, with one of the best views in town, the Pavilion always remains a favorite destination for Lakesiders’ informal self-programming of relaxing, reading, game-playing, journaling, people-watching, napping, sunset meditation and much more.

Guests may also happen upon weddings, vow renewals, baptisms, memorial services, family reunions, company picnics and youth summer camps, as the Pavilion continues to be a popular special event venue for outside groups.

The Pavilion Upper Room hosts the Lutheran Chautauqua Vacation Bible School, youth camp breakout sessions, retreats, small weddings, bridal party preparations, United Methodist Church Conference events and various meetings.

Each day, you will find multiple generations of Lakesiders enjoying the space and programming options at the Pavilion.
