During the gatherings, we shared many changes that were coming to Lakeside Business District this year. We are excited that we can share additional information now that leases have been signed:
The Fine Print at Millie Magoo’s: Long-time Lakesider, Traci Richards, is opening her new business on Walnut Plaza next to Marilyn’s. As part of this, she has purchased the Fine Print and will sell books in her new location. She is actively meeting with the programming team to plan activities and help offer the books for preachers of the week, speakers and visiting authors. Other things on shelves include games; puzzles for all ages; cornhole, pickleball and shuffleboard equipment; fun items to take to the pool and art supplies.
Newport Dry Goods: Local business, Newport Dry Goods in Port Clinton (near Bassett’s), will be opening a second location in Lakeside this summer on the corner of Second and Walnut in the former Fine Print space. They plan to sell many items with the Lakeside logo like clothing, candles and mugs. Some of Newport’s top selling name brands are Liverpool, Charlie B, Tommy Bahama, Helly Hansen, Fusion, Southern Tide and Johnny O.
Gifts that Give Back: Gifts that Give Back has already moved into their new space on Second Street in the former Marilyn’s Two space and are preparing for the season. They plan to open in this location later this spring.
Allison’s Thrifts and Gifts: This new shop will be located on Second Street in the heart of Lakeside’s business district. It will be a mixture of some handmade goods, sourced goods from other small business owners she knows, like soaps and lip balms from the Concord Soap Company, jewelry, customized picture frames, Christmas and other seasonal ornaments, Lakeside-themed board tokens and thrifted items from garage or estate sales.
Hotel Lakeside Dining Room & Cold Creek Cafe Catering: Eric Foltz will be operating the Hotel Lakeside Dining Room for the second summer this year. Additionally, he is expanding his popular Cold Creek Cafe Catering to offer catering services for all groups and events in Lakeside. The catering menu has a three-ring binder full of options, including box lunches and buffets for breakfast, lunch, dinner, cookouts and brunch.
Sauced Pizza: Lakesiders, Andrew and Rachel Chwalik, who currently run Bluebird and the Laundromat, will be taking over the space at the corner of Second and Maple to open a new Pizza restaurant in Lakeside. They are finalizing their menu and other details now and we look forward to sharing more soon. In addition to homemade pizza, they will be making deep dish cookies.
Ooh La La: Ooh La La will be moving back to its former location, La Dolce Galleria. The open space in the Fountain Inn will be used as a meeting location for the 2025 season, returning to its former name, Chautauqua Hall.
Docky’s Mercantile: Lakesiders, Ryan and Sarah Hamilton, will be opening a new retail space in the pavilion across from the Kite Shop in the former Info Center. This shop will offer items for a day on the beach or dock like sunscreen, towels, chairs and snacks and will perfectly complement the waterfront experience in Lakeside.
Poolside: Eric Foltz takes over Poolside, which will have Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, hot dogs, wraps, shredded chicken, pulled pork, barbecued beef, sloppy joes, chicken tenders and several appetizers. Foltz is also adding a soft serve ice cream machine for several different flavors of milkshakes and flurries. There will also smoothies, mocktails and ice cream cups with a biscuit for dogs.
