This summer, Lakesider Sue Lippert invites guests of all ages to take part in a brand-new adventure inspired by a beloved coastal tradition: the Lakeside Treasure Orb Hunt.

In the early 1900s, glass fishing floats traveled across oceans attached to commercial fishing nets, eventually washing ashore for lucky beachcombers to discover. These hand-blown glass orbs quickly became treasured collectibles and inspired generations of shoreline explorers and treasure hunters.

Now, that same spirit of discovery is coming to the shores of Lake Erie.

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, special plastic “treasure orbs” will be hidden throughout Lakeside for guests to find. Each orb will contain instructions for redeeming it for an artisan-inspired glass orb.

Whether you’re walking along the lakefront, browsing local shops, enjoying family activities or watching the sunset, you may spot a hidden treasure orb waiting to be discovered.

Where to Redeem Your Treasure Orb
Guests who find a plastic treasure orb can redeem it for an artisan-inspired glass orb at one of the following locations:

Miss Mercedes
203 W. Second St.
Lakeside, OH 43440

Pickle and Chips Bakery
318 W. Main St.,
Marblehead, OH 43440

Keep your eyes open this summer! Treasure could be hiding just around the corner in Lakeside.
