Every summer, Lakeside Chautauqua offers thousands of activities to nurture mind, body and spirit. From Rhein Center art classes and logrolling to theatre camps and wooden boat rides, some of these experiences require pre-registration and a fee to participate.
To continue improving your online registration experience, Lakeside has migrated to a system under our current company, ACTIVE Network. The updated system is called ACTIVE Works Camps & Class Management (ACTIVE).
HOW TO FIND ONLINE REGISTRATIONS
You can access online registrations two ways: 1) Visit Lakeside’s homepage at lakesideohio.com and click ‘Register’ in the top navigation bar or 2) Visit lakesideohio.com/registration. We recommend saving this link to your favorites.
PROGRAM CATEGORIES
On the registration page, you’ll see program categories to peruse based on your interests.
Click on a program category to be directed to ACTIVE. From there, you can utilize the filter function on the left to choose the dates of your visit or age groups.
- Arts – Rhein Center: Browse classes offered at the arts center, including easel art, fused glass, pottery, sign language, rock painting, crochet, ballet, oil painting and much more.
- Arts – Camps: Heidelberg University presents Broadway Bootcamp from July 22-25 and a Musical Theatre Intensive from July 22-26. Croswell Opera House presents “Disney’s Alice in Wonderland JR.” Theatre Camp from July 29-Aug. 2.
- Education: View a variety of field trips, workshops, bike safety classes, Mazza Museum programs and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Recreation – Pool: Pre-register for logrolling and swim lessons.
- Recreation – Sports: This summer, we’ve added fencing classes, and basketball clinics return to Bettinger Park.
- Recreation – Tennis & Pickleball: Browse private lessons and tennis clinics. Registration for some events will be in person at the courts.
- Recreation – Waterfront: View registration for kids’ Pirate Adventures and a new Gilligan’s Island Adventure. Registration for Wooden Boat Rides, Sunset Cruises, Paddleboard Adventure Classes and Sailing Classes can also be found here when available.
- Recreation – Wellness: This category is for special wellness classes that require advance registration.
- Religious Life: Register for the Fellowship of Associate Members & Local Pastors Retreat and the ‘Exploring Epiphany through Poetry & Poem-Making’ religious life seminar.
- Special Events: Browse registrations for community events, including the Goodtime Cruise, Murder Mystery Dinner and more as they become available.
- All Events: View events and classes in the ACTIVE registration system.
- Please note that some activities require onsite registration or are offered on a different platform. Registrations for those activities are listed under the ‘Registration for Additional Events’ section at lakesideohio.com/registration.
CLASS SELECTION & SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT
More than 500 classes have already been added to the ACTIVE system, and we’re continuing to add more weekly. Like other online shopping experiences, you can view and add classes to your shopping cart before creating an account.
At the conclusion of your first registration, a new account will be created for you. This account is where you can view your registrations, add additional family members and edit answers to questions.
ENHANCEMENTS & CHANGES
- Add to Calendar: After completing registration, you can add classes to your calendar with the click of a button.
- Waitlist: If you register for a waitlist and a spot becomes available, an email is sent prompting you to respond within 24 hours to secure your spot. If you don’t respond, an email is sent to the next person on the waitlist.
- Weather Cancellations & Location Changes: If your class requires a weather cancellation or location change, you’ll receive an email. Please check your spam folder for communications.
- Withdrawing: If you need to withdraw from class, you can do that from your confirmation email or account.
- Withdrawal, Cancellation & Refund Policy: The credits from withdrawing from a class will be processed within ACTIVE. Credits will be added directly to your account and remain until the end of the fiscal year, March 31, 2025. Credits can be used to pay for classes and activities that require registration through ACTIVE.
PROCESSING & EFFICIENCY
One change you should note is that ACTIVE requires a nominal service fee. The fee is a system requirement and is directly paid to ACTIVE. Lakeside does not receive these fees. If you register in person at the Rhein Center or Waterfront Rental Center, there’s still a service fee for the team to register you in the system.
