The Williams Tennis Campus is key to wellness at Lakeside, offering three different court surfaces for newbies and long-time tennis enthusiasts to participate in lessons, round robins, tournaments, and fellowship.
One of the most popular surface types to play is our green clay HarTru courts because of their fast-drying capability and ease on players’ joints. HarTru courts last 18-20 years, and our courts have reached their lifespan.
In addition, part of the HarTru court maintenance is watering the green clay with an irrigation system and Lakeside’s system needed major repairs.
Thanks to our dedicated tennis community and Rick and Jayne Sulser’s partnership with Lakeside President & CEO Charles Allen, the HarTru courts are in the process of being resurfaced by Courtsmith and a new irrigation system is being installed by Bill’s Irrigation. The courts will be ready for Lakesiders of all ages to play by next spring.
Courtsmith and Bill’s Irrigation are true partners of Lakeside, and we appreciate their continued work over the years to care for Lakeside and our grounds.
Throughout the entire process of this project, Dick Hubbard’s knowledge and expertise were also valuable.
“Dick Hubbard is a champion for Lakeside tennis,” shared Rick. “He knows every detail, the slope and the material needed for the HarTru courts. He was a big help along the way as this was investigated.”
