2018 Education Highlights

Staff blogger: Jeanne Mauriocourt, Director of Educational Programming

Education is paramount to the Lakeside experience. It allows us to engage in meaningful discussion and exchange ideas and opinions about the world around us.  Each summer, experts, historians and researchers present on an array of themes to give us new insights, challenge our thinking and broaden our knowledge about the world.

In anticipation for the summer, here are some highlights from the education pillar of our Chautauqua program.

 WEEK 1

The season begins with Creating & Publishing Children’s Books (June 18 & 19), where Ohio authors, illustrators and editors of children’s books discuss aspects of the creative and publishing processes. A Hoover Auditorium exhibit of artwork by children’s book illustrators, on loan from the Mazza Museum, complements the theme.

Community Sustainability (June 20 & 21) features Jill Stephens Fleisher, PhD, Professor of Sociology and Co-Director of the Sustainability Program, and Franklin B. Lebo, JD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Sustainability, both from Baldwin Wallace University, presenting concepts and strategies relating to community sustainability.
