Even though the summer has come and gone, Lakeside Chautauqua is still bustling. In the off-season, from early-September to late-May, Lakeside offers many events and activities, even though most of the shops, restaurants, services and bed & breakfasts/guest houses have closed until next summer.

Volunteering, a Recognized Value in One of Many Lakeside Families

Week_1_Heironimus007_EditedAs fall settles in and Lakeside Chautauqua prepares for the events during the “off-season,” Lakeside recognizes the value in volunteers and how essential they are to the Chautauqua experience.

Pat Castanaras, Les Cunningham and Carolyn Beears are just three of the many volunteers that make this experience worthwhile for so many guests and Lakesiders.

When asked why the three siblings recognize the importance of volunteering, Castanaras said, “The Cunningham family is working on its fifth generation of young people who come to Lakeside to renew their spirit, their religion, to rejuvenate for their future and believe in it. I want to and need to make sure that it [Lakeside] is here for them to experience the same or similar way I did.”

5k Run in Honor of Patricia King Munn

Stein_Hospice_LogoAll are invited to participate in a 5k run/walk in honor of Patricia King Munn, a Lakesider.

The race will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 in front of the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office. The course will be the same as the 5k Raccoon Run.

Registration online. Pre-registration is $20 and same-day registration on Sunday, Oct. 12 will be $25. To be guaranteed a T-shirt, participants must register by Monday, Oct. 6. Same-day registration will be held from 8-9 a.m. in front of the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office.

Medals will be awarded to the top male and female runners and walkers and also to the fastest in each age group of runners.
