Can you believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner? As many of the Lakeside staff members begin to prepare their meals, they took the time to share a few more last-minute recipes.

Whether you’re sticking to tradition or looking for a new appetizer, side dish or dessert to add to your menu, these recipes are sure to light up your taste buds.

Celebrate Christmas at Lakeside

To celebrate the holiday season, Lakeside Chautauqua hosts an annual Community Christmas Dinner held on Saturday, Dec. 6 in Wesley Lodge.

I sat down with Casie Eller, Programming manager, to learn more about this annual event. Eller’s year-round job at Lakeside is to provide administrative support to the Programming Department, especially the Vice President of Programming, Shirley Stary.

Eller has attended several events in Wesley Lodge, and this year’s Community Christmas Dinner will mark her fifth year attending the event.

The leaves have finally fallen, and November has officially arrived in Lakeside. The air has gotten cooler, and everyone is busy preparing for family gatherings on Thanksgiving.

As you prepare your Thanksgiving menus, members of our staff would like to share some of their favorite holiday recipes with you over the next few weeks. Together, we will all have a delicious and well spent Thanksgiving holiday.

OSU Marching Band Concert in Lakeside

The Ohio State University (OSU) Marching Band will perform a ‘sit down’ concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 in Hoover Auditorium while en route to the OSU vs. Michigan State game on Saturday, Nov. 8. Doors to the concert will open at 7:15 p.m.

The concert, organized by the OSU Alumni Band-Ottawa County Chapter, is a fundraiser to provide student scholarships.

Tickets are $10 each and available online at www.osumbinottawacounty.com. Tickets ordered online prior to Monday, Oct. 20 will be mailed. Tickets ordered online after Tuesday, Oct. 21 will be available for pick up at Hoover Auditorium after 5 p.m. on the day of the concert.

We’d like to thank those who attended this weekend’s Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival, and especially thank our volunteers who continue to make this annual tradition a success.

Lighthouse_Festival_3The Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival, a cherished fall tradition, will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 in Lakeside Chautauqua and throughout the Marblehead Peninsula.

This free, peninsula-wide event will include a variety of activities for the entire family to enjoy. There will be tours of the Marblehead Lighthouse, live entertainment, children’s crafts, a pumpkin-decorating contest, plein air artists, arts & crafts vendors, a farmers’ market, hayrides, sailboat rides and much more.

The Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival is sponsored by the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Lakeside Chautauqua.
